Singapore adds 675 confirmed diagnoses and announces suspension of all major overseas military exercises

In Singapore, 675 new cases were diagnosed in the past day. Except for two cases of local residents, the rest were foreign workers living in dormitories; the total number of cases was more than 25,300. The Ministry of Defence of Singapore announced that due to the impact of the new coronary pneumonia epidemic, it will suspend all large-scale overseas exercises, including the routine “Exercise Wallaby” with Australia.

The Ministry of National Defense of Singapore stated that in view of the continuing epidemic, large-scale overseas exercises including the “Kangaroo Exercise” have been suspended. However, if the epidemic situation slows down in the future, it may conduct smaller training activities with Australia. It also emphasized that it will maintain stable and reliable bilateral relations with Australia.

The “Kangaroo Exercise”, which began in 1990, is the largest overseas exercise of the Singapore Army (SAF). It is usually located in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area in Queensland, Australia.
